Social

We are organising the following social events:

On Monday (at the end of the academic programme) there will be a welcome Reception in the Picture Gallery. The College’s collection of Victorian paintings are displayed there. The collection includes famous works by Fildes, Frith, Landseer and Millais, amongst others.

On Tuesday, after the evening meal, there will be an informal Concert held in the College Chapel featuring participants from the BCC. The Chapel is the venue for our graduation ceremonies; it is well worth seeing as a wonderful example of ornate Victorian decoration. David Penman (dbpenman@essex.ac.uk) is organising the event: please contact him (either now, or at the conference itself) if you would like to perform in the concert.

On Wednesday afternoon, we are organising a trip to Windsor for those who have booked a place. The trip includes coach travel to Windsor, entrance to the Castle and the services of a Blue Badge Guide. We plan to return to the College in time for an evening meal. For those not booked on the trip, we recommend taking a local walk (Windsor Great Park is very close, for example), or taking a train into London to explore the many sites there.

On Thursday evening there will be the Conference Dinner. After the dinner, there will be the chance to relax in Crosslands Bar and listen to a Jazz Quartet featuring Tony Woods on alto Sax, and the Jazz Lions.
